BTN BD is a UK-based investment and infrastructure company established to channel private capital and international expertise into Bangladesh's national development.
BTN BD — Building Tomorrow's Nation Bangladesh — was established by British-Bangladeshi finance professionals with a conviction that the diaspora's capital, expertise and global networks could be directed toward transformational national infrastructure, rather than household consumption alone.
We are headquartered in London and operate at the intersection of international finance, infrastructure development, and the Bangladeshi diaspora community. Our proposals are grounded in rigorous financial modelling, international best practice, and a deep understanding of Bangladesh's policy environment and development priorities.
BTN BD is a proposed entity — we are actively engaging with the Government of Bangladesh, BIDA, Bangladesh Bank, and other stakeholders to secure the regulatory and institutional framework required to advance our programmes.
We exist to build the institutional and regulatory bridges that allow 15 million Non-Resident Bangladeshis to invest meaningfully in their homeland's future.
A principled framework for private-capital-led national development
We seek only the enabling framework from government: strategic project approval, regulatory licensing support, institutional establishment, and rights-of-way. No grants, no sovereign loans.
All capital is raised from NRBs through Equity Sukuk instruments. The diaspora funds the infrastructure. The infrastructure generates the revenue. The model is self-sustaining from day one of operations.
BIRD operates under a performance-based DBOOM model with complete public accountability through the Buriganga River Basin Authority (BRBA). Taxpayers bear no risk. Investors bear full delivery responsibility.
The DBOOM model places full delivery responsibility on the private sector while ensuring public benefit and accountability through regulatory oversight. This is not a traditional PPP or BOT — it is a performance-linked model where BTN BD and its investors succeed only if Bangladesh's infrastructure targets are met.
The BRBA (Buriganga River Basin Authority) will provide institutional oversight, ensuring full transparency in operations, environmental compliance, and public accountability for every aspect of the BIRD programme.
